KAMLOOPS, B.C. - The B.C. government has served a trespass notice to native protesters occupying part of a golf course at the Sun Peaks resort near Kamloops.
Kamloops-North Thompson Liberal MLA Kevin Krueger says the order is intended to address what he calls the "unlawful occupation."
He says the resort has a license to the land in question and he hopes the protesters leave; otherwise pressure will be brought to bear.
Members of the Neskonlith Indian band claim the resort is on aboriginal land.
Spokeswoman Janice Billy says the province and the resort are treating aboriginal title as if it does not exist.
She says the native protesters intend to stay where they are and will fight the trespass notice in court.
