THE PEOPLE'S TRUST FUND

All proceed raised from the People's Prom are put into the People's Trust Fund which is then given away to groups working in the community for social change. Each year a particular cause is chosen that the money will be raised for.

THIS YEAR WE ARE CHANGING IT UP! The Prom Committee is shaking-it-up and wants to highlight the *CREATIVE* in (y)our resistance as well as extending it to individuals and not just groups. There are tonnes of social justice issues both local and national in scale that need addressing - take your fucking pick.

By highlighting the *CREATIVE* we mean: artistic, crafty, innovative, radically fun, actions or activities that challenge and/or afront the current social and economic system. The People's Trust Fund is about funding activities/actions that wouldn't normally receive funding because they challenge or oppose capitalism.

So are you dying to pants Sullivan or Ladner and need money?
Do you really want to pants Stephen Harper and need the plane fare?
Perhaps you have a master plan for changing the world and a little cash would help?

Well...

HOW DO YOU APPLY?

If you are a small/grassroots/radical group who isn't funded and are working to bring justice in a creative way, send an email to peoplesprom(at)resist.ca describing who you are and what you're doingand where the People's Trust Fund will go. The deadline for submissions is April 1st 2006. Funding will be allocated in the spring.

Here's where the money has gone in the past:

2005: Resistance against all levels of gov't
2004: Resistance against welfare cuts in BC.
2003: Resistance against the Olympic Bid
2002: Groups fighting against Gordon Campbell and the BC Liberals
2001: Groups working against the FTAA
