Tanya Evanson
Tanya's a Caribbean-Quebecoise writer, spoken word artist and desktop publisher originally from Montreal. She's the new host of Bukowki's weekly spoken word series. She reads of travels thru South America, Thailand and back into B.C. with dreadlocked word. This is a call to all travellers, poets, people, humans and Blood Sisters alike. Percussion is included.



Kagan Goh
Kagan was born in Singapore. He's a filmmaker, spoken word prophet, romance novella writer and budding singer/songwriter. His upcoming chap book "Ryokan: Amusings of a Zen neon Disco Buddhist Punk" and "Zen and the art of Manic Depression" explore mental illness less as a sickness and more as a vehicle for spiritual transformation.



Kyle Hawke, Sherri Chisholme, Michael Miles
Having performed together as a trio (words, drum, guitarÐin order) for only a few short months, these three have played together and separately in many genres including jazz, funk, pop, cabaret and spoken word. They will be performing pieces from KyleÕs first chapbook, "Humanity 101", which collects work on the theme of identity.

Larissa Lai
Larissa's a Vancouver-based writer and organiser. Her first novel,"When Fox is a Thousand", was published by Press Gang Printers in 1995. SheÕs recently learned to scuba dive and is planning to start a new career as a professional beach bunny.



Miss Moni
Miss Moni, a singer/songwriter and poet, known throughout Vancouver for her deep lyc's and soulful sounds joins us to share her latest creations. Let her take you on an emotional rollercoaster with "you 'set me off", then fly with her on a journey called "Dragonfly's" as you allow yourself to be wrapped up in "Are You Feelin' Me".



Inga Muscio
Inga once had a hypnotherapy memory of being pulled out of the warm red of her mother into cold blinding fluorescent lights. She was enraged about this and has pretty much been pissed off ever since. Some people call this "feminism". Inga's womanifesto book "Cunt" was published by Seal Press in 1999. IngaÕs travelling from Seattle to read at Volcano.



Billeh Nickerson
Billeh's first book of poetry, "The Asthmatic Glass Blow/er and other poems" is due in September release by Arsenal Pulp Press. He writes the column "Hard Core Homo" in Xtra West and is a contributing editor to Geist magazine.



Anne Stone
Anne is a writer and text-based performance artist and is the author of the novels "Jacks: A Gothic Gospel" and "Hush" published by Insomniac Press.



Meg Torwl
Meg is a multi-media artist from Aotearoa, New Zealand. She's performed at Pride & at the Fringe Festival. Her Volcano performance will look at the contradictions in the Canadian immigration process.



Rita Wong
Rita's book of poetry, "Monkey Puzzle", was published by Press Gang in 1998. She's been active in the last year with DARE (Direct Action Against Refugee Exploitation), a group formed in support of the Chinese migrants who arrived in boats off the coast of BC last summer.



Hannah Calder
Hannah is still pretty new when it comes to the stage, almost a stage virgin, but not quite. She likes to write. SheÕs been called a "cool feminist poet".



Megan Fairbanks
Megan is a nerdy queer freak. She's currently working on a bunch of poems about being a bearded lady in a transphobic world.



Jen Lam
Jen's a born & bred East Van spoken work brat. She's currently looking for new uses for duct tape & cherry jello.



Hayley Sinclair
Hayley's a radical punk-ass grrl who writes cool and reads fast. She's one of the founding members of the Hush Grrls Hush collective & is active in youth and urban politics.



Gabe Martin
Gabe's one of VanCity's fave hip hop poetz. Her beats make it impossible to sit still & her words keep your brain moving long after she's left the stage. She's also a fire performer.
