Through the fliers on campus and seeing the picket lines, your struggles for better wages and work conditions are understood as important and deserving support. And beyond the meeting of these more immediate needs, it is important to share a vision for social transformation that your invited to help usher in.
The long term objective of this vision is the abolition of class divisions, the hierarchal social relations that make up capitalism. The relationship of boss vs. the worker is not a beneficial one for the worker. In the struggle for meeting immediate needs we'd like to push things further towards this vision. And with the acknowledgment that the university is a cornerstone to creating class divisions, we ask you to take your actions and desires further by fighting the institution as a whole. If not publicly, perhaps otherwise.
It is understood that you play a very significant role in maintaining the universities operations, and are therefore in a very strategic position in deciding the direction of UCSC.
With this in mind it seems valuable to articulate where the commonalities in this struggle against the institution surface and how we can work together. This can take several forms from emailing inside information to the email on this site or offering suggestions for applying pressure that might serve to meet both our desires.
We appreciate the resistance that you apply.
