From Victory Square to Shaugnessy: The Choices Are Endless!

When in Vancouver, please be sure to visit any of our Tent City Pilot Projects! A recent housing development, initially located downtown in the middle of Victory Square Park, was so successful that it spawned a number of spin-offs! This pilot project, begun by a coalition of housing activists, was the first of many such projects mushrooming in Vancouver over the past year and will surely be followed, shortly before the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Olympics, with many more such projects located in highly visible areas near tourist points of interest and, quite possibly, near the lovely village of Whistler itself.

You may also thrill to the sight of homeless people occupying lovely mansions in Shaughnessy and many other opulently housed areas. We would, however, suggest that tourists wear the appropriate chemically proof tear gas masks as we believe that Vancouver's overcast skies will be caused by things other than bad weather and smog.

"If you've never had the occasion to visit Shaughnessy, here's an activity that lures my wife and I every time: hopsquat! While the kids collect chestnuts and acorns to their heart's content (there are millions to be had), we like to encourage throngs of homeless merrimakers in jumping from one mansion squat to another, especially those belonging to vacationing upper crust and offshore landholders. Police and landlords habitually fight over these buildings as if their lives depended on it. It always gives my wife and I a smile to see them serving their masters like the lapdogs they are."

Squatting will lower property values and, as a result, reduce taxes. Everyone love tax cuts!
