We are currently engaged in the fightback against the Campbell government of British Columbia. We are also actively engaged in the anti-globalization struggle.

For some imaginative Campbell bashing, check out our Campbell dart target poster in the Resources section or check out these submissions to a BCGEU contest for the most creative manipulations of Campbell's lies (including our favourite, an MP3 called "Distorted Frustrations" by Seedy, a great musician and a friend of M.W.A.L.).

M.W.A.L. fully endorsed and took part in the planning and support of the Woodwards Squat. M.W.A.L. condemns the police violence against the squatters, who were consistantly non-violent. Squatters were held for as long as 8 hours handcuffed as a method of pressuring the arrested to sign the undertaking barring them from re-entering the Woodwards building. Also used as a threat was detainment for days if they did not sign. These tactics are used to do two things: 1) to intimidate people into giving up their right to associate and protest with other activists and 2) to separate, by lengths of time, activists in order to cause the collapse of the action.

Although the squatters were evicted, the action continued on the sidewalk immediately around the Woodwards building complete with tents, mattresses, food tables, and daily demonstrations and in spite of next to no coverage by corporate media. (this campaign is now ended with what we consider a victory for the Woodwards squatters, but the homeless struggle still continues)
